The world view. Each dot is a place where you hold a supplier address, a faint tint marks every country with at least one location, and the side panel ranks countries by how many suppliers sit there.
What the map draws
The map draws three things, and they answer different questions.Site dots
A solid dot is a place where you hold a supplier address that Coverbase has geocoded. Sites that share the same coordinates draw as one dot, so a cluster of dots is several distinct places close together. The dots stay small at every zoom level: they say where a site is, not how many sit there. Read counts from the side panel or a hover.Country tint and hollow marks
Every country where you hold at least one location gets a faint tint, stronger where more suppliers sit, and you can click it. A tinted country with no dots holds only country-level records: suppliers where you recorded a country but no street address. When a country has nothing to place at all, a hollow dot sits at its center, and the side panel legend reads Country recorded, no address to place. The mark stays small, because a larger one would imply a precision the data does not have. Hover a tinted country to see how many suppliers it holds and which ones. The count is exact, whether the addresses are placed or not.

The side panel
Top exposure ranks countries by supplier count, or world regions if you switch to Region. The line under it gives the totals for the current view, for example “94 vendors/services across 281 locations”.A country-only supplier is a complete record. Plenty of suppliers have no single street address worth recording. The map keeps them visible rather than dropping them, so your country totals still include them.
Filtering the map
The Filter button sits at the top left of the map and opens the same filter menu as the Vendors and Assessments lists. Anything you can filter a vendor by, you can filter the map by.

A rule applied. Remove it with the ✕, add another with +, or drop them all with Clear.
Opening a location on a vendor’s Locations card and choosing View on the risk map drops you here with that supplier already filtered and its country in focus. View on map on a vendor in the Chain tab does the same for that vendor. The rule is an ordinary one, so you can widen it, add to it, or clear it to get back to the whole estate.
Archived suppliers
Archived suppliers are off the map by default. An archived supplier is one you have stopped working with, and leaving it in would inflate every country count you read. To see them, add the Archived filter and set it to Yes. That reverses the default rather than adding to it, so you get archived suppliers only. It is a quick way to check what a wind-down removed from a region.Zooming into a country
Click any tinted country to zoom in. The side panel switches to that country’s location count, its breakdown by state or province, and the suppliers there under Vendors here. The map swaps the world dots for one pin per place and outlines the states. Records with no state are counted as Country-wide, and addresses that could not be placed share a hollow pin at the country’s center.

Many suppliers at one address
Shared campuses, office towers and colocation facilities mean several suppliers often sit on exactly the same coordinates. Drawn one mark per supplier, they stack into a single dot and you only ever see whichever drew last. Coverbase groups them instead. Zoom into the country, then hover the pin to see how many are there, with the site name and address for each.

What you need to see anything

The Risk module is enabled
Geography appears under Risk. If you have no Risk section, the module is not switched on for your workspace.

You can read vendors
The map shows supplier names and links to their records, so it requires vendor read access. Someone without it will not be able to open the tab.

You hold some locations
Addresses come from supplier site records. They are collected through questionnaires, added on the vendor’s Locations card, or loaded through the API. A workspace with no sites recorded gets an empty map.

Addresses have been geocoded
Coverbase resolves addresses to coordinates on a schedule rather than when you save one, so a location added minutes ago counts toward its country first and gets its own pin shortly after. Until then, zooming into the country shows it in the hollow pin at the center.

The tint is deliberately faint, and a country with few suppliers or only country-level records has few dots or none. Hover the country or read the side panel for the count.The counts follow your filters
Once a rule is applied, every number in the side panel and every popover describes the filtered set, not the whole estate. Clear the filter before reading a total.Related
